About the role

The Architect III position is a member of the Enterprise Architecture team and defines and leads architectural priorities that advance the business and technology strategy of the organization in a specific domain.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in the Architecture Standards Board (ASB) and Technology Review Board (TRB) governance forums as well as manage the business capability inventory for their specific domain.
  • Develops applicable standards and patterns for the domain and brings it forward to ASB for review and approval.
  • Develops solution architecture relating to applications and capabilities within a specific domain, ensuring designs are safe, secure, compliant, and reliable.
  • Reviews solution architecture design in TRB and ensures the design aligns to approved standards and patterns.
  • Advocates and evangelizes architecture principles, standards, and patterns across the organization.
  • Identifies, proposes, and leads opportunities to advance capabilities for the domain through the use of new technology, reuse of existing products, services or platforms.
  • Facilitates proof of concepts and pilots on new/emerging technology to gauge value and assess implementation complexity.
  • Utilizes a broad understanding of Application, Infrastructure, or Security capabilities and/or solutions to represent to Architecture peers in discussions with other IT and Business leaders.
  • Develops a point of view based on problems or opportunities in the domain to clearly articulate options and recommendations.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of related experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in related field required.
  • Previous leadership experience preferred.
  • Intermediate knowledge of general Financial Services or Banking is preferred.
  • Intermediate knowledge of applicable regulatory and legal compliance obligations, rules and regulations, industry standards and practices.
  • Advanced experience working in an architecture function with knowledge & experience developing reference architectures & patterns and supporting governance functions related to: Application Development, Cloud Compute, Storage and Networking technologies.
  • Advanced understanding of product management, agile principles and development methodologies and capability of supporting agile and DevOps teams by providing advice and guidance on opportunities, impact and risks, taking account of technical and architectural debt.
  • Proficiency with the Azure Cloud ecosystem including: Cloud Compute, Storage & Networking, IaaS / PaaS / SaaS, Serverless, Containers, Azure Resource Manager, and Entra.
  • Experience with networking in Azure including Virtual Networks, DNS, Load Balancing, Firewalls, Routers, and Proxies.
  • Experience with Identity & Access Management and security design patterns leveraging Entra, Azure Defender, Azure Sentinel, & Cloudflare.
  • Cloud management expertise utilizing RBAC, Azure Blueprints & Policies, Cost Management, Monitor and Alerting.
  • Proficient in automation scripting leveraging Azure PowerShell & CLI modules.
  • Understanding of modern DevOps concepts including CI/CD, SAST, DAST, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
  • Experience with container-based solutions such as Azure Kubernetes or Docker.
  • Experience with emerging Azure technologies such as Azure Fabric & Microsoft Foundry.
  • Understanding FinOps principles and practical application.

Qualifications

  • May require up to 25% travel.
