Architect II
About the role
An Architectural Designer II/Architect II (ADII/AII) is responsible for specific technical design aspects of an assigned project, including investigation, evaluation, and development of design solutions that best meet the client's needs. The ADII/AII provides professional architectural consultation in the planning, design, and coordination of large and complex projects; independently applies advanced architectural concepts; and carries out assignments requiring the development of new or improved techniques and procedures. Exposure to all phases of the design process is required. The ADII/AII may also provide technical guidance to less experienced staff.
Core Responsibilities
- Understand the MA “Project Road Map”, project schedule and key deadlines
- Participate in project design and development from concept through documentation
- Aid in the preparation of client design presentations (concept images, 3D views, rendered elevations, material selections)
- Assemble presentation decks based on the meeting agendas
- Prepare design presentation documents, renderings, and materials as directed
- Understand project scope, deliverables, and expectations
- Implement design direction based on leadership feedback
- Help to identify agenda items for meetings
- Draft meeting minutes for PA/PM review
- Provide guidance to less experienced colleagues as needed
- Coordinate activities with all consultants as appropriate
- Manage BIM coordination for consultants
- Provide internal management support
- Support production of Design Development and Construction Document sets
- Attend client meetings with PM/PA and prepare meeting minutes
- Organize and track project correspondence and communications
- Prepare drawings, schedules, and specifications as directed
- Incorporate changes and updates into the project documentation
- Develop new or identify existing details to be utilized for project
- Aid in development of project-specific construction details
- Review consultant sets and coordinate prior to phase releases
- Ensure compliance with MA Presentation Standards and Project Checklists
- Implement BIM execution and coordination as directed
- Maintain server file organization and archive project emails
- Self-check work for accuracy and completeness
- Assist project team with Construction Administration activities as directed
- Aid in the review and approval of shop drawings
- Attend site meetings as directed
- Participate in regular/weekly progress reviews with PM
- Aid in the preparation of Field Reports and Punch Lists
- Review RFIs and Submittals as directed
- Prepare record documents at project closeout
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Architecture or a related field
- 6+ years of professional experience with a strong portfolio
- Proficiency in Revit, Rhino, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, Enscape, Procore, MS Office, and Bluebeam
- Strong design, communication, and organizational skills
