Architect I
About the role
We are seeking a Graduate Architect to join and complement our Building Systems team. In this role, you will collaborate closely with senior architects, engineers, technicians, and administrative staff on a variety of commercial projects. You’ll gain hands-on experience contributing to real project work, including design calculations, quantity takeoffs, cost estimating, drafting and plan development, report preparation, and occasional field work. This is a great opportunity to build both your technical and design skills while working in a supportive, team-oriented environment. Based in our Columbus, OH office, you will have the opportunity to work alongside a diverse group of ms consultants team members across the Building Systems Unit.
Responsibilities
- Focus on the technical production of plans, sections, elevations, and details associated with multiple project types.
- Perform technical architectural work and support for projects using the following software platforms: REVIT, AutoCAD, and FormIt.
- Develop a technical understanding of building design and construction techniques.
- Complete production-related project tasks using the following software platforms: Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator), Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Assist project team leaders in aligning Client & Technical Design Standards for each project.
- Create high-quality documents and check your own work before hand-offs to peer reviews.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in architecture from an accredited College or University preferred.
- Technical computer skills in Revit, AutoCAD, Word, Outlook, and Excel.
- Strong communication skills and a willingness to ask questions, share ideas, and collaborate.
- Experience working on team projects (academic or professional) and collaborating across disciplines.
