Architect, Business Development
Position Overview
StructureCraft’s Business Development team is seeking an Architect, Business Development to lead proposal and qualification development for our structural engineering and construction firm. The role focuses on producing proposals, qualifications, and presentations for projects ranging from community centers to botanical gardens.
Responsibilities
- Lead the production of proposals, qualifications packages, and presentations for structural engineering and construction pursuits across North America and internationally
- Read and interpret RFPs and RFQs
- Build compliance matrices, coordinate content from engineers and sub-consultants, and manage pursuit timelines from kickoff through submission
- Identify opportunities to use AI tools and automation to improve proposal production workflows
- Write and edit technical proposal content: firm narratives, project descriptions, approach statements, team qualifications, and executive summaries
- Design and produce deliverables in InDesign, Word, etc., to a high visual standard, maintaining brand consistency
- Maintain the content library: project sheets, team resumes, firm profiles, and boilerplate
- Support presentation preparation for shortlist interviews
- Contribute to broader BD activities: client outreach, market research, conference preparation, and content development
Requirements
- Architecture degree (B.Arch, M.Arch, or similar)
- InDesign proficiency
- Sharp, nimble personality with a good grasp of technology and AI innovations
- Strong InDesign proficiency and experience with the broader Adobe Creative Cloud
- Particularity for technical writing and strong verbal and written communication skills
- Passion for architecture, engineering, and design
Qualifications
- Experience in AEC business development, proposals, marketing, or sales (agency or in-house) is a plus
- Familiarity with structural engineering concepts or construction methods is a plus
- Experience building internal tools, automations, or workflows using AI coding assistants is a plus
- Knowledge of CRM platforms (we use HubSpot) and content management tools (we use Notion) is a plus
Skills
- Sharp, nimble personality with a good grasp of the latest technology and AI innovations
- Proficiency in large language models (Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, or similar) as a core production tool
- Strong InDesign proficiency and experience with the broader Adobe Creative Cloud
- Particularity for technical writing, including a penchant for "getting it right" in grammar, proposal organization, and quality of content
- Proven ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- High sense of urgency, attention to detail, proactiveness, and comfort working directly with senior management
- Motivation to take ownership of pursuits start to finish
- Ability to think holistically – digest RFPs into succinct outlines and high-priority tasks, coordinate content from engineers and sub-consultants, and manage deadlines without being managed

Pay Range
The pay range for this role is $80,000.00 - $100,000.00 CAD per year (Abbotsford or Vancouver) or $80,000.00 – $100,000.00 USD per year (Seattle, NYC, or international).
