Summary
BRPH is seeking an Architect for our Orlando, Florida office to support our Hospitality Market Sector. The ideal candidate will assist with architectural projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Performs assignments utilizing professional architectural experiences requiring application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria of related architectural tasks.
- Performs design and calculation tasks based on standard architectural techniques and procedures.
- Performs design of more complex projects and portions of designs of non-routine projects under the direction of the Project Architect, or other responsible staff member.
- Affixes reports, specifications, plans, schedules, cost estimates, and permits for projects, under the direction of the Project Architect or other responsible staff member.
- Performs CAD drafting to produce designs into routine final drawings.
- Researches discipline-related code issues and presents interpretations.
- Visits construction sites to review, monitor, and report progress and perform other construction administration duties.
- Has a general understanding and knowledge of construction techniques and constructability.
- Instructs and mentors junior staff in the development of contract documents.
- Performs checking of one’s own work and work prepared by and other team members.
- Provides coordination of all applicable project discipline's drawings and specifications.
- Affixes design budgets, marketing proposals, and cost estimates.
- Affixes client contact and communication pertaining to specific projects.
- Promotes communications, cooperation, and quality among staff.
- Must be skilled in the use of Microsoft Windows, Excel, Bluebeam and Word, AutoCAD, Revit, and basic knowledge of sustainable/green strategies.
- Must be a US Citizen or a Permanent Resident.
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in architecture from an accredited four-year college or university.
- Three years experience in architecture.
- Must prepare to take licensing exam.
Physical Requirements
- Semi-sedentary work requiring the ability to lift up to 20 pounds.
- Manual dexterity, hearing, mental acuity, typing, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, talking, and visual acuity.
- Ability to navigate and move around the construction site, which may involve walking, climbing ladders, and standing for extended periods on uneven surfaces.
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
- Ability to stand and sit for periods longer than 30 minutes but not to exceed two hours consecutively.
- Ability to control behavior when encountering stressful situations or short deadlines and to maintain a high level of concentration.
- Ability to print and draw letters, numbers, words, characters, and symbols that are legible and understood by others.
- Ability to learn complex tasks and remember how to complete tasks without assistance once trained.
