Archeological Field Tech (On-Call)

About the role

The On-Call/Temporary Archaeologist will assist senior archaeologists primarily in fieldwork, with tasks including survey, testing, evaluation, data recovery, and construction monitoring. Other duties may include laboratory analysis, conducting background research, assisting with report preparation, and other tasks as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Aid in fieldwork activities such as survey, testing, evaluation, data recovery, and construction monitoring.
• Conduct laboratory analysis and background research as needed.
• Assist with report preparation and other tasks as assigned.
• Travel for up to 10 days may be involved, and work will occur outdoors under all weather conditions.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, History, or related field.
• At least 1 year of field experience in archaeological monitoring and survey.
• Valid driver’s license and successful completion of a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check.

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate and coordinate effectively with ICF senior staff and construction personnel.
• Knowledge and familiarity with computers and smart devices.
• Background in precontact or historic-period archaeology.
• Ability to conduct field visits.
• Active 40-hour HAZWOPER training.

Skills

• Excellent field skills.
• Identify precontact and historic-period artifacts.
• Take detailed field notes.

Pay

The pay range for this position based on full-time employment is: $50,605.00 - $86,028.00.

Schedule

This position is on-call (temporary) and work hours are flexible and determined as they become available.
