Archaeology Principal Investigator - Project Manager
About the role
Bolton & Menk is seeking a Cultural Resource Project Manager to join our team in Iowa. This role offers the opportunity to work with a talented team and contribute to making communities safer, more sustainable, and more beautiful.
Responsibilities
- Serve as SOI-qualified Archaeological Principal Investigator for cultural resources projects
- Coordinate cultural resources research, surveys, excavations, and reporting with project staff
- Oversee cultural resources construction monitoring, including coordination with crews, site documentation, material identification, and report preparation
- Provide project management support for cultural resource services to internal teams and clients
- Develop scopes of work and budgets for cultural resource tasks
- Write, review, and assess cultural resources reports prior to submission
- Communicate and coordinate with Federal, State, Local, and Tribal agencies on project-specific matters
- Facilitate negotiations regarding cultural resource impacts and mitigation strategies
- Aid in cultural resource management, environmental review documents, and planning tasks as needed
- Travel to project sites and related locations
- Support and lead cultural resources business development initiatives across company operations
Requirements
- Education: Master's degree in Anthropology and Archaeology with 2 or more years of related experience
- Experience: Bachelor's degree in Anthropology and Archaeology, or closely related field required with 5 or more years of related experience; supervisory experience preferred
- Knowledge: Experience following State and Federal cultural resource regulations, laws and executive orders and environmental review processes
- Skills: Strong communication, organizational, time management, and critical thinking skills; detail-oriented with proficiency in Microsoft Office; working knowledge of CAD and QA/QC software and processes; experience with ArcPRO preferred
- Other: Possession of a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Qualifications
- Must be legally authorized to work in the US at the start of employment without a need for current or future visa sponsorship
Skills
- Knowledge of Midwest prehistoric and historic periods, artifacts, architectural styles and contexts
