Responsibilities
- Assist the Raba Kistner CRC team with a variety of projects, including pedestrian surveys, shovel testing, field site documentation, National Register of Historic Places eligibility testing, unit excavations, and data recovery efforts.
- Support the laboratory processing and curation preparation activities associated with projects.
- Serve as Field Technician on various cultural resource projects.
- Conduct archaeological investigations for survey, testing, and data recovery projects.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or Historic Preservation, or a closely related field and the completion of an accredited archaeological field school.
- Minimum of one-year related experience.
- Knowledge of and practical experience with archaeological field methods and techniques.
- Possess a valid driver’s license within the applicable jurisdiction and meet company’s auto insurability requirements.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to read and understand instructions, labels, reports, etc.
- Ability to effectively communicate information both written and oral and respond to questions in person-to-person and small group situations with the Principal Investigator, Project Archaeologist, and other employees of the organization.
Qualifications
- Required to sit, stand, stop, talk and walk and conduct field efforts over rugged terrain, in intense vegetation, and in inclement weather conditions.
- Required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Required to walk frequently.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, far vision, color vision, peripheral vision, focus vision, depth vision.
- Work environment may require potential exposure to movement of heavy equipment on construction or roadway sites; potential exposure to varying weather conditions, hazardous dangerous chemicals and solvents, noise, dust, fumes, grease and oils, radiant and electrical energy, and vibration; all of which would require employee to follow proper safety procedures and utilize appropriate protective equipment.
- This position may require protracted or irregular hours. Flexibility to work irregular hours is necessary due to client needs.
- Must have the ability to travel to out of town project on an as needed basis.
