About the role

The Aquatics Supervisor supports the daily operations of the aquatic facility, ensuring a safe and well-maintained environment for all users. This role helps oversee lifeguards, monitor safety protocols, and assist with the coordination of day-to-day aquatic activities. The Supervisor works closely with management to ensure smooth facility operations and provides excellent service to members and guests.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate with members regularly and promote aquatic club activities.
  • Assist in hiring, supervising, and developing aquatic personnel to ensure staff are well-trained, creating a safe environment for facility users.
  • Help verify the accuracy of time reporting in Kronos.
  • Participate in bi-monthly in-service training drills to maintain safety standards.
  • Assist in staff training, ensuring all employees are up to date on certifications, including CPR, first aid, and lifeguarding.
  • Support the implementation of aquatic programs, such as swim lessons, fitness classes, or special events.
  • Assist with coordinating the logistics for swim meets or other aquatic-related activities.
  • Assist with the timely setup and breakdown of aquatics programs.
  • Ensure the pool facility is always in a safe environment.
  • Clean and sanitize the swimming pool, including cleaning the pool, backwashing filters, skimming pool surfaces, and checking chemical levels.
  • Ensure areas around the pool are clean and clear of equipment and debris.
  • Ensure equipment (e.g., railings, ropes, pumps) is in good working order and report repair/replacement needs.
  • Oversee daily pool operations, ensuring proper water quality, cleanliness, and overall safety of the pool area.
  • Assist with opening and closing procedures, including securing the pool area and conducting equipment and facility inspections.
  • Monitor pool chemical levels, equipment functionality, and general facility maintenance; report issues to the Director and/or Manager of Aquatics.
  • Follow all company, club, and department policies, procedures, and instructions.
  • Represent the company’s management team by supporting and enforcing policies while maintaining high standards of ethics and integrity.
  • Maintain professionalism and a commitment to excellence in interactions with members, colleagues, and staff.
  • Promote and follow safe working practices, ensuring compliance with safety guidelines.
  • Take initiative in personal and professional growth and maintain required certifications.
  • Address and resolve challenges using available resources, collaborating with regional and corporate teams to support club operations.
  • Support overall team efficiency by contributing to the club’s goals.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in an aquatic facility or similar role.
  • A minimum of 3 years of competitive swimming or certified swim coach experience.
  • Current certification in CPR, first aid, and AED.
  • Lifeguard certified.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Sports Management, or related field.
  • Previous supervision experience.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequent swimming, sitting, standing, walking, and driving.
  • Occasional exposure to temperature changes, dust, fumes, or gases.
  • Squatting, kneeling, reaching, grasping, twisting, and bending.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 100 lbs. on occasion.
  • Talking, hearing, and seeing.

  • Tubes, life vests, and AEDs.
  • First aid kits and safety signage.
  • Pool skimmers, nets, and vacuum systems for cleaning.
  • Water testing kits.
  • Chemical dispensing systems.
  • Smartphones or tablets.
  • Office supplies.

Schedule

  • Adherence to attendance requirements as outlined in the weekly schedule.
  • Flexibility to work additional hours as needed to meet position deadlines.
  • Availability to work on weekends and/or holidays as required.
