Aquatics Program Manager

Job Responsibilities

• Supervises and evaluates aquatic staff.
• Hires, trains, and conducts performance evaluations of aquatic staff.
• Trains new lifeguards and retrains guards from previous years.
• Trains staff in the proper use of chemicals and hazardous materials.
• Provides on-site management in the absence of Pool Managers.
• Develops and implements training programs for Pool Managers, Lifeguards, and Concession staff.
• Coordinates swim and dive team schedules and practices.
• Serves as a liaison between the Parks and Recreation Department and parent representatives.
• Coordinates aquatic services with outside agencies and organizations.
• Directs planning, promotion, and implementation of programs, activities, and special events.
• Recruits program instructors.
• Maintains contact with the general public in person, via phone, and written correspondence.
• Communicates aquatic information to the public including special events, programming, and general information.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Parks and Recreation, Leisure Management, or related field.
• 5 - 7 years of related work experience.
• Aquatic Facility Operation (AFO) and Certified Pool Operation (CPO) certifications required.
• Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor Trainer license, or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
• Certified Park and Recreation Professional (CPRP), or ability to obtain within 12 months of hire.

Pay and Schedule

The hiring range for this full-time, exempt position begins at $66,500 (DOQ).

The base schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, regular office hours. However, this exempt position will frequently require attendance at activities and events that occur in the morning, evening, and on weekends and holidays as well as overnight seminars and conferences. During pool season, this position follows the normal Monday through Friday office hours as well as additional hours required to maintain operations.
