Aquatics Group Exercise Instructor (Portage Location)

Essential Functions

• Leads group classes, as directed by the supervisor, to accomplish the YMCA mission and goals.
• Counsels members in a safe, enjoyable, positive environment that promotes member wellness and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.
• Conducts energizing, fun, safe, and educational classes.
• Builds effective relationships with members; helps members connect with each other and the YMCA.
• Maintains working knowledge of wellness and trends to provide effective information and support to members.
• Keeps accurate class attendance records.

Qualifications

• CPR/AED/1st Aid – must obtain within first 60 days of employment.
• Experience in leading or participating in group water wellness programs.
• Experience teaching or leading groups.
• Experience instructing group water fitness classes preferred.

Work Environment And Physical Demands

• Ability to conduct classes and activities relating to fitness.
• Ability to perform all physical aspects of the position; including walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting.
