Aquatics Coordinator

About the role

Join the Old Colony YMCA team and help create a safe, fun, and inspiring aquatic experience for our community. As an Aquatics Coordinator, you’ll play a key leadership role in shaping a dynamic pool environment where participants of all ages can grow, learn, and thrive.

Responsibilities

• Help children and families reach their full potential through aquatics programs
• Champion water safety through swim testing, education, and community outreach
• Create a fun, welcoming environment that keeps members coming back
• Recruit, train, and mentor a team of lifeguards and aquatics staff
• Build confidence through ongoing in-services and hands-on coaching
• Lead by example—demonstrating professionalism, vigilance, and teamwork
• Maintain a clean, safe, and well-equipped aquatic facility
• Oversee scheduling, certifications, and essential documentation
• Support emergency preparedness and ensure staff are always rescue-ready
• Promote aquatics programs and water safety initiatives
• Collaborate with branch leadership and community partners
• Represent the YMCA mission through every interaction

Requirements

• Team Leader Certification from Y-USA (or be actively working towards)
• Must acquire and maintain certification with the following and within required timelines: Ellis LG & LGI, American Red Cross WSI or WSIT, Vanguard Aquatics Supervisor Training
• Minimum of 3-5 years of related work experience, supervisory experience preferred
• Must be physically able to teach aquatic lessons and lift an adult male from the pool to the pool deck
• Complete program specific and employee orientation training by required timeline
