About the role

The Mechanical Specialist (I) participates in mechanical application operations and aids in the maintenance/repair of equipment to meet company and client expectations while ensuring regulatory compliance. This role fosters the SOLitude culture, values, and service performance standards.

Responsibilities

  • Learn and conduct mechanical control applications
  • Observe and identify aquatic plant species
  • Aid in the mobilization/demobilization of equipment
  • Assist in staging environmental control measures per project/permit requirements
  • Operate SOLitude and rental machinery effectively (e.g., watercraft, aquatic weed harvester, hydro-rake, loader)
  • Log project-specific information in the Mechanical log book (dates, management areas, material collected, number of loads, etc.)
  • Provide timely project progression updates to the Project Coordinator
  • Aid in training new employees on operating and maintaining mechanical equipment
  • Support the Mechanical Division with maintaining and repairing equipment in a group setting
  • Log all maintenance and repair work performed on mechanical machinery
  • Submit company-authorized purchase receipts and work hours accurately and timely
  • Travel and lodge at various project-specific locations

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 1-2 years of experience in the mechanical application field
  • Comfortable with on-water equipment applications
  • Mechanically inclined
  • Self-motivated; able to work independently or in a group
  • Organized and detail-oriented
  • Positive attitude and trustworthy
  • Proficient at communicating
  • Open-minded to new ideas
  • Ability to travel as needed
  • Complete licensing/certification programs as necessary (e.g., OSHA 10, Hoisting)
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license from state of residence

Physical Demands and Work Environment

The work requires strenuous physical exertion, including driving, standing, walking, bending, climbing, kneeling, and crouching for extended periods. The role also involves seeing, talking, hearing, and using hands and arms to grasp, handle, reach, and feel.
