Aquatic Resource Systems Specialist (Natural Resource Program Specialist 2)

About the role

Become part of a statewide effort to protect important natural resources! The Aquatic Resource Systems Specialist supports key projects that help keep our state park waterways clean and healthy.

Responsibilities

• Support projects that address invasive, threatened, or nuisance aquatic species through integrated management approaches
• Aid in evaluating and planning efforts to manage excess sediment and determine project feasibility
• Help assess and guide nutrient management practices that improve water system conditions
• Contribute to efforts that enhance aquatic habitats for wildlife such as birds, fish, turtles, and amphibians
• Assist in projects that reduce conflict between park needs and nuisance wildlife or adverse watershed conditions
• Participate in data collection, mapping, and project coordination for aquatic resource work

Qualifications

• One year of experience as a Natural Resource Program Specialist 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
• Three years of professional experience in natural resource management or natural resource education; and a bachelor's degree in natural resource management, parks and recreation, education, biology, forestry, ecology, geosciences, environmental sciences, or a closely related field;
• An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Work Schedule and Additional Information

• Full-time employment
• Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch
• You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 5 days in a 10-day pay period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.
• If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
• The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.
