About the role
The Recreation Worker III, also known as Aquatic Instructor, is needed to teach swimming lessons to students ranging from six months to senior citizens at the Dimond Park Aquatic Center. This position offers flexibility in staffing and a complimentary pool pass.
Responsibilities
- Teach swimming lessons to students aged 6 months to senior citizens in an organized class structure.
- Communicate swimming and aquatic safety concepts to students verbally and through demonstrations.
- Organize and implement recreation activities in an aquatic setting.
- Provide instruction in a variety of classes, typically 30-45 minutes long, twice to four times a week, depending on the time of year.
Requirements
- Six (6) months of experience organizing and/or implementing recreation activities or an instructional certification.
- CPR within 30 days of employment.
- Other American Red Cross certification as "Water Safety Instructor" or other specialized certifications in diving, scuba diving, or kayaking as appropriate.
- At least 15 years of age at the time of appointment.
Qualifications
- Prior competitive swimming experience is desirable for Masters Swimming Coach positions.
Skills
Good communication and organizational skills are essential. Must enjoy working with community members of all ages in an aquatic setting.
