About the role
This position supports the review and evaluation of environmental impacts related to dams, water obstructions, and encroachment activities. The work helps ensure safe and responsible use of aquatic resources across the region.
Responsibilities
- Environmental Analysis: Assist in evaluating site characteristics and aquatic conditions for permit applications
- Field Studies: Conduct investigations and surveys to document habitat, species, and environmental compliance
- Technical Research: Gather supporting materials to validate findings and strengthen permitting decisions
- Agency Coordination: Work with local, state, and federal partners on environmental reviews and planning needs
- Compliance Review: Investigate potential violations and provide recommendations for corrective actions
- Public Engagement: Support education efforts, meetings, and information sharing with communities and stakeholders
Qualifications
- Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: A bachelor's degree with a major in a biological science, natural science, environmental science, or natural resource management, including or supplemented by six college credits in freshwater aquatic biology, aquatic ecology, aquatic botany, water pollution biology, entomology, limnology, or closely related aquatic science coursework; or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Special Requirements: This position requires possession of an active motor vehicle license. Other Requirements: You must meet the PA residency requirement.

- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 3 days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.
Pay
- Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $53,008 (before taxes).
