About the Role
We are seeking a qualified provider to join our patient-centered care team as an Advanced Practice Nurse/Physician Assistant (APRN/PA) at UAMS. In this role, you will support operations at the Jonesboro Family Medical Center (FMC) by serving as a key clinical extension. You will manage clinic workflows, coordinate complex visit schedules, and perform ENT procedures with accuracy. The APRN/PA will independently handle patient evaluations in collaboration with supervising physicians to ensure seamless, high-quality outpatient care.
Responsibilities
- Conduct clinical assessments, assist with care coordination, respond to messages via MyChart and in-basket, address patient inquiries, and manage prescriptions.
- Evaluate new and follow-up patients, review pathology and imaging results, and provide comprehensive patient education and follow-up planning in the outpatient setting.
- Perform otomicroscopy with cerumen removal, flexible fiberoptic laryngoscopy, videostroboscopy, nasal endoscopy, and sinus debridement under physician supervision.
- Perform skin and soft tissue biopsies of the mouth and throat with physician assistance.
- Coordinate specialized, multidisciplinary care and facilitate patient consults to ensure timely and appropriate treatment.
- Provide comprehensive health assessments, determine diagnoses, implement treatment plans, prescribe medical treatments, and manage health issues in collaboration with the designated physician.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to diagnose and manage patient health care problems, serving as a resource, interdisciplinary consultant, and patient advocate.
- Manage post-procedure immunosuppression and labs in coordination with the physician and pharmacist.
- Participate in institutional initiatives and encourage participation of others.
- Collaborate in policy and program development, implementation, and evaluation using best practices in delivering quality service.
- Edit and document results in various critical care systems.
- Undertake additional duties as assigned to support the clinical mission.
Requirements
For APRN:
- Master’s Degree in Nursing
- Three (3) years of nursing experience
- Licensed Registered Nurse in Arkansas
- APRN License
For PA:
- Master’s Education
- PA Licensure
Outpatient Expectations:
- Evaluate postoperative and established patients for medication management of common ear, nose, and throat conditions in conjunction with otolaryngologists.
