Apps Development Group Manager - Senior Vice President

About the role

We are looking for an exceptional software engineering leader to head the development of our next-generation Custody Asset Servicing client platform within Citi's Investor Services business. This is a rare opportunity to lead technology behind a global client platform that powers the client facing systems for corporate actions and securities services for some of the world's largest institutional clients. You will drive a portfolio of high-visibility, strategic initiatives — from retiring legacy systems under regulatory commitments, to onboarding marquee clients, to accelerating a global platform migration. We want a leader who is as comfortable setting technical direction and mentoring engineers as they are presenting to senior management and negotiating with business stakeholders. Critically, we are building an AI-native engineering organization. You will champion the adoption of GenAI coding agents across the software development lifecycle — code generation, automated testing, code review, and documentation — and inspire your teams to work in fundamentally more productive ways. Responsibilities

• Build & Inspire High-Performing Teams: Lead, mentor, and grow multiple multidisciplinary teams — Java backend engineers, web frontend developers, DevOps/SRE, and database specialists. Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, ownership, and continuous learning. Own the full people-leadership agenda: hiring top talent, performance management, skill development, career growth, and healthy team dynamics.
• Champion an AI-Native Engineering Culture: Set the vision and lead the adoption of GenAI coding agents to accelerate development, testing, code review, and documentation. Continuously evaluate emerging AI tooling, establish responsible-use best practices, and measure productivity impact. Motivate engineers to embrace AI-augmented workflows and reimagine how software is built.
• Define & Drive Technical Strategy: Establish a clear technical vision and roadmap built on cloud-native architecture — Kubernetes, containerization, and modern CI/CD. Champion engineering best practices across software development, automated testing, and cloud-native deployment. Integrate deep applications-development expertise with the broader technology function to achieve firm-wide goals.
• Deliver Strategic, High-Stakes Initiatives: Own the successful delivery of a portfolio of critical, business-defining programs. Drive accelerated client migration and user adoption, including training enablement and hands-on support. Accelerate the integration with core custody asset servicing systems, managing complex cross-global dependencies with minimal downtime.
• Oversee Execution, Infrastructure & Delivery: Manage the full lifecycle of multiple concurrent projects, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards. Oversee a robust, scalable Kubernetes-based infrastructure ensuring high availability, performance, and security for a global platform
