About the role

This is a senior-level position responsible for establishing and implementing new or revised application systems and programs in coordination with the Technology Team. The overall objective is to lead applications systems analysis and programming activities within the Futures Brokerage space in New Jersey, USA.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize in-depth knowledge and skills across multiple Applications Development areas to provide technical oversight across systems and applications.
  • Review and analyze proposed technical solutions for projects.
  • Collaborate with BA/PMs, Operations, and Product managers within Futures Brokerage to create product rollout plans, gather business and functional requirements, and understand end-to-end flows of Futures Clearing and Brokerage.
  • Identify the best approach to migrate clients/flows, develop an iterative rollout plan, validate use cases, and work with vendors.
  • Chair weekly project team meetings with stakeholders and build relationships with Production Development groups in London and New Jersey.
  • Work with Development leads in Pune to deliver project milestones and engage with senior business and technology stakeholders.
  • Lead integration of functions to meet goals, deploy new products, and enhance processes.
  • Analyze complex business processes, system processes, and industry standards to define and develop solutions to high-level problems.
  • Provide expertise in advanced applications programming and plan assignments involving large budgets, cross-functional projects, or multiple projects.
  • Develop application methodologies and standards for program analysis, design, coding, testing, debugging, and implementation.
  • Utilize advanced knowledge of supported main system flows and comprehensive knowledge of multiple areas to achieve technology goals.
  • Consult with end users to identify system function specifications and incorporate them into overall system design.
  • Allocate work and act as an advisor/coach to developers, analysts, and new team members.
  • Influence and negotiate with senior leaders and communicate with external parties.
  • Appropriately assess risk when making business decisions, demonstrating consideration for the firm’s reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients, and assets.
  • Drive compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations, adhering to Policy and applying sound ethical judgment.
  • Deliver development projects end-to-end, quickly grasp new requirements, and manage tight deadlines or unexpected changes.
  • Work independently, multitask, take ownership, and drive strategy while helping other developers and QA leads formulate test plans.
  • Collaborate with operations in EMEA, APC, and NAM to own migration project plans and current status.
  • Conduct release retrospect meetings to continuously improve processes.
  • Bridge the gap between development and business leads and liaise with Quality Assurance Testers to ensure functionality meets expectations.
  • Contribute ideas on technology and process to ensure team productivity and success.
  • Own the documentation Wiki page for the project.
  • Work with the global team (NY, London, Singapore) and attend evening calls as needed.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of application development and leadership experience in the financial services domain with hands-on experience in Full Stack Java + Oracle.
  • Experience solving performance issues (including DB, ingestions, exposure).
  • Good understanding of CI/CD processes, Scrum, and JIRA.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Deep understanding of ETD (Exchange Traded Derivatives) clearing workflows, including trade lifecycle management, brokerage, cash, and collateral workflows.
  • Proven experience integrating clearing systems with books and records platforms to ensure seamless data flow and reconciliation.
  • Expertise in cloud-native development principles and practices, designing and building highly resilient, scalable, and observable services/systems in a cloud environment.
  • Extensive experience with post-trade processing systems and technologies.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of client core business functions, leadership, project management, and development skills.
  • Relationship and consensus-building skills.
  • Familiarity with AI tools and using them for day-to-day tasks to ensure performant and faster development.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Ability to learn and understand technical implications of system design.
  • Team player in solid/matrix reporting organizations.
  • Willingness to ask questions, challenge processes, and seek answers.

Pay

Full-time salary range: $176,720.00 - $265,080.00.
