About the Role

As a key member of our global development team, you will partner with project managers, business stakeholders, and senior managers to deliver well-architected technical solutions and drive cross-functional collaboration. You will lead complex problem resolution, provide technical architecture leadership, mentor team members, and ensure operational excellence with a high degree of autonomy and ownership.

Responsibilities

  • Translate complex business requirements into technical solutions through close collaboration with project managers, business stakeholders, and senior managers.
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration to align efforts with strategic organizational goals.
  • Proactively identify, define, and implement system enhancements to support new products and process improvements.
  • Lead the resolution of high-impact problems by evaluating intricate business processes, system architectures, and industry standards.
  • Employ advanced analytical thinking to uncover root causes and develop innovative, sustainable solutions.
  • Consult with users, clients, and technology groups to recommend programming solutions and address technical challenges.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in application programming, ensuring designs adhere to architectural blueprints and technology roadmaps.
  • Develop and enforce coding, testing, debugging, and implementation standards across development teams.
  • Mentor mid-level developers and analysts, providing guidance and fostering skill development.
  • Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and code reviews to junior data engineers.
  • Ensure adherence to best practices and operational procedures.
  • Operate with independence and ownership to drive critical initiatives to completion.
  • Proactively assess and manage technical risks, ensuring regulatory compliance and ethical judgment.
  • Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable, and high-performance data pipelines using PySpark.
  • Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality data solutions.
  • Optimize and tune Spark jobs for performance and efficiency.
  • Implement data quality checks and ensure data integrity across pipelines.
  • Design, develop, and optimize data architectures, pipelines, and models to support analytics, reporting, and machine learning.
  • Build, test, and deploy scalable ETL/ELT processes using Python and PySpark.
  • Develop and optimize complex data transformations using PySpark.
  • Implement best practices for data quality, governance, and security.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize data pipeline performance, particularly for PySpark jobs.

Requirements

  • 6-10 years of progressive experience in systems analysis and programming of software applications.
  • Strong proficiency in Java, including TDD, Spring framework, and Microservices architecture.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with PySpark and advanced Python programming.
  • Proven experience with Big Data ecosystems (Cloudera and/or Data Bricks).
  • Hands-on experience with distributed query engines like Starburst (Trino/Presto).
  • Proficiency in designing and managing workflows using Apache Airflow.
  • Strong expertise in SQL and experience with relational and non-relational databases.
  • Excellent knowledge of algorithms, data structures, and design patterns.
  • Experience with Java core, collections, concurrency, streams, and frameworks like Spring (Core, Batch, Integration, MVC, Boot, Data), Hibernate, Jackson, JAX-RS, JPA, and JAXB.
  • Experience with distributed caches like Apache GemFire (preferred).
  • Experience with messaging systems like JMS and Kafka.
  • Experience in Angular 21+ or ReactJS.
  • Experience with testing frameworks like JUnit and mocking frameworks (Mockito, PowerMock).
  • Experience in performance enhancements using parallel processing and multithreading.
  • Understanding of Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience in RESTful API development, deployment frameworks, and source control (e.g., Git).
  • Solid understanding of SQL and proficiency in Linux environments.
  • Experience with job scheduling and Agile methodologies.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple deadlines, and adapt to evolving requirements.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills for collaborating with global teams.
  • Experience with real-time data streaming and processing using PySpark Structured Streaming.
  • Knowledge of machine learning concepts and MLOps practices, especially integrating ML workflows with PySpark.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
  • Contributions to open-source data projects (preferred).
  • Strong experience with SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Cassandra).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with AI development tools (e.g., Copilot, Devin, Claude).
  • Prior experience or interest in the financial services industry.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage unexpected changes in expectations.
  • Flexible, adaptive, and strong analytical and interpersonal skills.

Education

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Pay

Full-time salary range: $125,760.00 - $188,640.00. Eligible employees may also receive discretionary and formulaic incentive and retention awards.
