About the Role

This position is for a heavy equipment mechanic specializing in maintaining and repairing cranes. The role operates in a safety-first environment and may involve routine maintenance tasks such as lubricating parts, as well as troubleshooting and fixing malfunctions. Technicians must be available for on-call, after-hours, and weekend services to meet customer needs.

Responsibilities

  • Be on-call and provide after-hours services as required.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, inspect, and upgrade industrial hoists and cranes in the field at customer locations.
  • Perform OSHA-required hoist and crane inspections and generate inspection reports and repair orders.
  • Communicate with the Service Manager and Branch Manager to schedule and complete daily work.
  • Operate tools, equipment, and vehicles safely and responsibly; report any deficiencies to a supervisor.
  • Maintain the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Attend company-provided trainings and seminars as required.
  • Participate in the HCSG 5 Marks program.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands

  • Labor-intensive work requiring the ability to lift up to 50 lbs daily and up to 100 lbs on rare occasions.
  • Frequent climbing, balancing, stooping/crouching, overhead reaching, bending, squatting, and prolonged standing or sitting (90% of the time).
  • Occasional pushing, pulling, kneeling, and crawling.
  • Requires strong hand-eye coordination.
  • Regularly work at heights exceeding 50 feet.
  • Travel required (20-50%) and willingness to work various shifts, including on-call and overtime.
  • Occasional out-of-town travel at the company’s discretion.

Work Environment

  • Work is performed inside or outside, depending on customer requirements, with exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures (e.g., exceeding 120 degrees in summer).
  • Frequent exposure to noise, heights, fumes, dust, and odors.

Requirements

  • 0-2 years of crane experience in an industrial facility.
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
  • Commitment to working and driving safely.
  • Willingness to work at various heights.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Vocational/technical training certificate.
  • Some electrical and mechanical knowledge.
  • Knowledge of hand tools and/or possession of personal hand tools.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test and background check (DISA) and comply with random and annual drug testing.
