Apprentice Sheet Metal Worker

Responsibilities

• Interpret building plans and specifications to determine the layout for the ductwork and other materials
• Organize other workers as well as train apprentices
• Produce drawings for custom fabrication
• Locate and mark the positions for duct sleeves, fire dampers, wall hoods, louvers
• Cut holes through walls and floors to accommodate ducts
• Join duct sections and secure them in position with a variety of joints
• Drill holes through concrete, wood, steel to secure proper hangers
• Properly use power tools to cut and assemble duct sections
• Learn to use CNC cutting machine to layout and cut sheet metal fittings
• Use shop bending, turning, and cutting machines to fabricate ductwork and fittings
• Move and install equipment such as make up air units, rooftop units, furnaces, air conditioners, fan coils, exhaust fans
• Mentor and train sheet metal apprentices
• Participate in safety inspections and ensure apprentices are following safety policies and procedures
• Maintain a clean, safe working area at all times
• Follow all Pad-Car Mechanical policies and procedures
• Perform other duties as assigned

• Ability to work on construction sites in all weather conditions

Qualifications

• Journeyman certificate held in Alberta or Red Seal equivalent
