Apprentice Sales & Service Technician, Albuquerque

A1 Garage Door Service is looking for motivated individuals to join our team as Apprentice Sales & Service Technicians. No prior garage door experience is required—we provide full training.

About the role

As an Apprentice Sales & Service Technician, you’ll travel to customer homes to diagnose, repair, and maintain garage doors and openers. You’ll assemble components, adjust equipment, order parts, and ensure everything functions properly. The role involves physical work, including lifting up to 75 lbs, bending, climbing, and standing for long periods.

Apprenticeship program

Our 4-week paid apprenticeship takes place at the A1 Training Academy in Phoenix, AZ. We cover flights and accommodations, and you’ll earn overtime while working 45–50 hours per week. After completing training, you’ll receive a $1,000 bonus and transition to a Junior Technician role in your local market.

Responsibilities

• Travel to service calls and meet customers at their residences
• Advise on repairs, maintenance, or new door purchases
• Assemble mechanical components and machine parts
• Adjust, repair, or replace worn/broken door parts using hand tools
• Disassemble equipment for maintenance or repair
• Install hardware, run wiring, and test equipment functionality
• Lubricate equipment and document operational activities
• Collect payments for goods or services
• Order replacement parts as needed

Requirements

• Friendly, professional demeanor
• Able to bend, climb, kneel, and stand for long periods
• Physically able to lift 75 lbs
• Valid driver’s license (3+ years) with a clean driving record
• Pass a pre-employment drug test (THC not included) and background check
• Basic knowledge of hand tools and software (navigation apps, Google, tablets)
• Reading and basic math skills (measurements, payments)
• Eligible to work legally in the U.S.

Pay
