Responsible for
- Learns trade from lead man and takes initiative in performing tasks.
- Serves and supports lead man in completing tasks at hand.
- Assists with installing, repairing and maintaining pipes, fixtures and other plumbing used for water distribution, and waste water disposal in commercial and industrial buildings.
- Selects and inserts precut pieces of copper tubing and fittings in holes as directed.
- Connects tubing and fittings using solder paste, or solder and torch, to form drain and water lines under close supervision.
- Keeps worksite clear and clean from debris and trash.
- Helps to keep shop and vehicles clean.
- Aids with paperwork involving basic math skills.
Required Education/Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent and enrolled in Apprenticeship program.
Competencies
- Ability to communicate with internal team and customers.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to use hand and power tools.
Physical Demands
- Must be physically able to operate a variety of machinery and equipment including electronic and diagnostic tools, recovery equipment, and various other HVAC equipment.
- Must be able to use body members to work, move or carry objects or materials.
- This position requires:
- stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, seeing, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
- Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently.
- Physical demand requirements are at levels of those of medium work.
Work Environment
- This job operates primarily alone on HVAC and boiler equipment in all environments, which includes extreme cold or heat depending on the time of year.
- Vehicles are used as the base of operations.
