Apprentice Level 1 to 4..... for application collection at Southern Electric Corporation
About the role
Step two will introduce the Apprentice to energized secondary work, de-energized primary framing, and bucket truck operation. The Apprentice may perform energized secondary work (up to 480 Volts) while being directly supervised by a Lineman or Foreman. The person supervising must be at the same physical location as the Apprentice (on the pole with or in the bucket with/adjacent to). The Apprentice may not be within reach or extended reach of the minimum approach distance of any energized primary conductor or equipment while working aloft.
Responsibilities
- Proper use of aerial lifts (Bucket truck).
- Basic aerial lift.
- Material handlers.
- Secondary connections.
- Phasing or paralleling secondary circuits.
- Taking voltage, amperage, or resistance readings on secondary circuits.
- Tying/attaching conductors to insulators on de-energized circuits.
- Sagging secondaries and services.
- Dead-ending and clipping services and secondary conductors.
- Assisting lineman with de-energized transformer connections.
- Work from pole or bucket.
- Test de-energized primary lines, tag, and apply protective grounds.
- De-energized primary framing and hardware installation.
- Hanging crossarms from the pole de-energize circuits.
- Drilling and fastening with impact (hydraulic) tools.
- Using hand-powered crimping tools.
