Summary Of Position Functions
The Apprentice I – Lighting Retro will focus on lighting retrofit projects. This role assists licensed electricians on-site with installing and maintaining systems designed to reduce energy use — including LED lighting.
Essential Position Functions
- Assists electricians in the installation of energy-efficient lighting.
- Pulls wires, installs conduit, outlets, switches, and lighting fixtures.
- Learns and follows safety protocols on job sites.
- Affords assistance in reading and interpreting electrical blueprints and schematics.
- Prepares and cleans job sites before and after installations.
- Maintains tools and equipment in good working order.
- Documents work progress and reports to supervisors.

Education And Qualifications
- To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

- A high school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must be available to work evening hours as required.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Knowledge of Veregy’s services and processes is required which can be obtained through intellect, technical inclination, and dedication to gain such knowledge.
- Knowledge (Intermediate to advanced) of various operating systems, software products (e.g. MS Office, etc.), is required.
- Knowledge and basic understanding of electrical systems or willingness to learn.
- Ability to work well in a team and take direction.
- Ability to have and maintain reliable transportation to job sites.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently manage time / workload.
- Ability to effectively respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers and staff.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management and staff.
- Ability to speak and communicate effectively before customers and staff.
- Ability to work under deadline pressure and extra hours if needed.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- Valid driver’s license.
- Enrollment in or willingness to enroll in a state-certified electrical apprenticeship program required.
