Apprentice HVAC Service Technician
The Service Apprentice reports to the Area Service Manager and is responsible for assisting in a range of refrigeration/HVAC jobs for industrial and commercial customers. Customer-based activities involve decisive, tactful, dependable, and communicative individuals who can interact effectively with various customer groups.
Summary of Duties
- Serving as a member of the Service Department team to conduct HVACR servicing jobs promptly.
- Performing routine HVACR service activities with direct oversight or on-site assistance.
- Aiding in installation, inspection, maintenance, and repairs of refrigeration.
- Aiding on installs and troubleshooting of specialized refrigeration equipment.
- Aiding in brazing and soldering of refrigerant lines.
- Aiding in charging and checking equipment refrigerant levels.
- Aiding in performing pre-startup checks on equipment and adjusting as necessary.
Job Qualifications
- High school graduate or enrolled in a post-secondary HVACR program of at least two years' duration.
- Good verbal and reading skills, including the ability to read and apply manufacturers' instructions and communicate clearly with commercial customers, suppliers, and other Capstone Mechanical employees.
- Physical ability to perform all duties noted above under various conditions, including extreme weather.
- Interest and initiative in maintaining and advancing HVACR skills through self-study, company training, workshops, and professional development.
- Current Texas operator's license and ability to operate all vehicles in the corporate fleet within 30 days of initial employment.
- Ability to work under pressures of time, a non-standard schedule, weather, customer needs, and backlog.
- Specialized knowledge to analyze and solve complex problems.
- Maintain a valid TDLR card.
- Possess a valid EPA card.
