Apprentice Engineer

Responsibilities

• Aid in performing preventive maintenance and repairs on all mechanical, electrical, plumbing and HVAC systems.
• Adjust and change HVAC and related equipment to meet established operating criteria.
• Perform general repairs, maintenance, and replacement of building components.
• Maintain operation logs and files for the property.
• Apply basic knowledge and skills in HVAC distribution and controls.
• Respond promptly and courteously to tenant requests.
• Maintain ethical, professional, and courteous relations with contractors and tenants.
• Participate in and learn current Hines and property emergency procedures.
• Participate in required training activities and seminars.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One year of related experience preferred.
• Related trade certifications preferred.
• Continually develop building engineering and related knowledge.
• Interact with employees, visitors, and contractors with poise and diplomacy.
• Compute basic mathematical equations.
• Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Maintain calm demeanor in emergency situations.
• Understand and apply correct usage of all personal safety equipment.

Requirements

• Ability to lift 25 lbs. or more.
• Climb up and down stairs and ladders.
• Access remote work areas and confined spaces.
• Use full range of manual dexterity.
• Meet shift working requirements of the assigned property.
• Work overtime as business needs deem appropriate.
