Apprentice Electrician

About the role

The Apprentice Electrician, under the direction of the Master Electrician, is responsible for the installation, start-up, troubleshooting, commissioning and servicing of industrial/commercial electrical equipment and systems. This position will be responsible for following the directions of the Journeyman Electrician to complete electrical maintenance and repair work.

Essential Job Responsibilities

• Assist the Electrician with basic tasks
• Complete Maintenance work orders on electrical equipment
• Testing malfunctioning equipment, identifying defects, troubleshooting, repairing equipment and replacing defective parts
• Collaborate with other electrical staff to identify and resolve problems
• Up-dates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications

Minimum Qualifications

• Possessing the ability to understand schematics and technical manuals
• Must be reliable and have excellent communication skills, both oral and written
• Must be willing to submit to pre-employment screening, including criminal background check and drug screen
• Basic computer knowledge is required
• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Preferred 2-4 years of electrical apprenticeship preferred
• Demonstrate knowledge of electrical codes

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Indoor office setting with controlled temperature
• Potential visits to outdoor industrial sites with exposure to weather extremes
• Potential exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, or other environmental factors
• Travel requirements: up to 10% of time
