About the role
The Apprentice Electrician, under the direction of the Master Electrician, is responsible for the installation, start-up, troubleshooting, commissioning, and servicing of industrial/commercial electrical equipment and systems. This position follows the directions of the Journeyman Electrician to complete electrical maintenance and repair work.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Electrician with basic tasks and complete maintenance work orders on electrical equipment.
- Test malfunctioning equipment, identify defects, troubleshoot, repair equipment, and replace defective parts.
- Collaborate with other electrical staff to identify and resolve problems.
- Maintain personal equipment by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs.
- Document service and installation actions by completing forms, reports, logs, and records.
- Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading professional publications.
Requirements
- 2-4 years of electrical apprenticeship preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of electrical codes.
- Ability to understand schematics and technical manuals.
- Reliable with excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Must be willing to submit to pre-employment screening, including criminal background check and drug screen.
- Basic computer knowledge required.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.

- Work in outdoor industrial sites with exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, extreme weather, and uneven terrain.
- Work in fabrication shops with exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, or other environmental factors.
- Compliance with all applicable safety regulations, personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements, and Loenbro's Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) policies.
- Climbing up and down stairs and ladders to access trenches and elevated platforms (including scaffolding at significant heights).
- Lifting equipment and materials weighing 1-50 pounds, 50% of the time monthly for required tasks.
- Walking on uneven terrain, averaging two miles per day.
- Ability to frequently stand, sit, stoop, crawl, and kneel.
- Use of respirator if required by the position.
