Apprentice Carpenter

Location: Towaco, NJ (Regional Project Deployment)

Position Overview

Mountaintop Construction Inc. is seeking an enthusiastic and hardworking Apprentice Carpenter to join our growing field operations team in Towaco, NJ. This hands‑on entry‑to‑mid‑level role is designed for an ambitious individual eager to build a long‑term trade career in residential and commercial carpentry alongside seasoned lead carpenters and master craftsmen. Working directly under the guidance of experienced site leaders, you will assist with framing, layout, cabinet installation, finish millwork, and jobsite logistics. Schedule

Full Time, Monday through Friday (Overtime or occasional weekend work as required by project needs)

Key Responsibilities

• Assist Lead Carpenters and field supervisors with rough and finish carpentry tasks across residential and commercial jobsites.
• Help set up work areas, measure, cut materials, and assist with wall, roof, and structural framing layouts according to blueprints.
• Support the assembly and installation of cabinetry, trim, doors, windows, millwork, and custom interior finishes.
• Transport, stage, organize, and maintain tools, heavy materials, lumber, and specialized carpentry equipment safely.
• Enforce site cleanliness, assist with daily cleanup, set up safety barriers, and adhere strictly to company safety protocols and OSHA standards.
• Follow technical directions from senior crew leads, learn blueprint reading, and master trade methodologies to expand your carpentry skillset.
• Maintain open, respectful communication with lead carpenters, subcontractors, and project managers to keep daily tasks moving efficiently.

Qualifications

Required:

• 1 to 3 years of hands‑on experience in general construction, carpentry assistance, framing, or residential remodeling (preferred)
• Basic understanding of carpentry hand and power tools, measuring instruments, and basic construction techniques
• Strong physical stamina, including the ability to lift up to 75 pounds, climb ladders, and work outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Honest, punctual, safety‑conscious, detail‑oriented, and driven by a strong desire to learn the carpentry trade
• Valid driver’s license with reliable transportation to jobsite locations across Northern New Jersey

Preferred:

• Completion of a vocational construction program, trade school training, or high school diploma
• Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is a plus
• OSHA 10‑hour or basic jobsite safety credentials
