Overview

The Hearing Care Provider Apprenticeship Program is designed for individuals interested in becoming a hearing healthcare professional who provides comprehensive hearing healthcare through patient assessment, education, and hearing loss treatment. The Apprentice will complete the HearingLife Apprenticeship Program to gain the necessary skills and obtain required state licenses.

Job Description

The role specifically requires:

  • Must be willing to relocate within the states of Minnesota or Wisconsin once licensed.

HearingLife Apprenticeship Program Overview

This role involves:

  • A 12-week distance learning program covering concepts and principles to become a Hearing Care Provider.
  • Monthly Apprentice Learning Plan Skills Development Measures to track clinical skill development.
  • Weekly logs of clinical hours and summaries of learning and clinical experiences.
  • Periodic meetings with the Clinical Training Team to ensure progress.
  • A Clinical Certification to ensure mastery of clinical concepts.
  • State and/or national licensing exams as required by the state.
  • A Practical Exam for hands-on evaluation of clinical skills.
  • A Written Exam, such as the ILE, for state licensing.
  • A transition to a permanent Hearing Care Provider role contingent upon obtaining necessary licenses.
  • The ATRT Academy for operational excellence within clinics.

Responsibilities

Essential job responsibilities include:

  • Exhibiting friendly and courteous behavior in all customer interactions.
  • Maintaining schedule and regular touch points with patients.
  • Conducting tympanometry examinations (where applicable).
  • Performing pure tone air and bone conduction tests with and without masking.
  • Conducting speech recognition threshold and word recognition tests with and without masking.
  • Making personalized recommendations for amplification based on patient needs.
  • Creating custom ear mold impressions and handling fitting and dispensing hearing instruments.
  • Providing follow-up care for amplification, including adjustments, troubleshooting, and repairs.
  • Counseling patients regarding hearing loss in a positive manner.
  • Performing other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

To qualify, candidates must:

  • Be willing to relocate within the states of Minnesota or Wisconsin once licensed.
  • Have at least 0-2 years of general full-time work experience, preferably in a patient care or other related hearing or health-care-focused setting involving direct contact with patients.
  • Understand HIPAA privacy obligations relating to patient information and records.
  • Hold a high school diploma and a valid driver's license (some states require an Associate’s Degree as a minimum).
  • Be proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite of products and have some familiarity with customer/Patient relationship management tracking systems.
