Department: Holt Industrial Rentals (HIR) • Full Time • Location: HIR - Corpus Christi

About the role

The Apprentice 1 will perform on-the-job training (OJT) while learning and developing as a technician. The incumbent is expected to model the following practices daily:

Responsibilities

  • Models, promotes, reinforces, and rewards consistent use of HOLT’s Values Based Leadership (VBL) tools, models, and processes to ensure alignment with Vision, Values, and Mission.
  • Gains knowledge of and assists with the maintenance and repair of heavy equipment.
  • Assists with installation, repairs, maintenance, and replacement of mechanical and electrical components.
  • Examines and tests equipment, components, and parts to ensure proper functioning.
  • Adjusts, connects, or disconnects wiring, piping, tubing, and other parts.
  • Attends Technical and Soft Skill classes and successfully incorporates skills learned.
  • Maintains safety training and procedures.
  • Receives coaching, mentoring, and feedback from service leadership.
  • Requires regular and punctual attendance.
  • Works safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Up to one year of relevant experience preferred.
  • Valid Driver’s license required.

Skills

  • Knowledge of basic arithmetic and its applications.
  • Knowledge of computer software and hardware applications.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to read, write, and interpret information.
  • Ability to follow directions and guidelines.
  • Ability to receive coaching, mentoring, and feedback from Service Leadership.
  • Ability to learn many different types of repair procedures on a variety of mechanical equipment.
  • Ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing.
  • Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.

Physical Requirements

  • Visual acuity, speech and hearing, hand and eye coordination, and manual dexterity necessary to operate equipment.
  • Routinely moves materials or equipment weighing up to 30 pounds.
  • Must be able to move objects and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue.
  • Ascend/descend with gradual or continuous progress by oneself, using both hands and feet, and climb up and down ladders.
  • Be able to safely maneuver and work around equipment.
  • Routinely reacts to visual, auditory, and other signals, including alarms and instructions, and is required to visually inspect work.

Work Environment

  • Regularly works indoors and outdoors around moving mechanical parts and may be exposed to weather extremes when working outside in conditions that include inclement weather, heat, cold, and humidity.
  • Uses hand and power tools to complete tasks.
  • Noise level may be loud at times and may be exposed to whole body vibration.
  • Exposure to small quantities of chemicals, steam, high-pressure water, and high-speed rotating equipment.
  • May spend time in stationary, confined, and high places.

Travel

Some travel and overnight stays may be expected for this position.
