About the role
This position supports the mission of the Property and Public Services Department by providing quality and efficient services to the public. The Appraiser provides accurate estimates of value for property in Nicollet County, performs various property appraisal tasks, and responds to taxpayer inquiries.
Responsibilities
- Provides accurate estimates of value for property in Nicollet County.
- Performs a variety of property appraisal tasks including views, inspections, and values property.
- Updates department records and responds to information requests regarding properties.
- Sets up and attends the local Board of Appeal and Equalization meetings as needed.
- Acts as an advisor and consultant to the Board and assists the County Assessor in investigating and reporting on any assessment orders.
- Calculates new construction changes and provides value estimates for proposed residential improvements and developments county-wide.
- Conducts property research and prepares special reports.
- Evaluates properties; classifies all property to appropriate classes.
- Performs equalization and appraisal of properties county-wide.
- Responds to taxpayers' requests for information.
Requirements
- Valid MN Driver’s License.
- Two (2) years of formal training in tech or associate's degree, and One (1) year of experience, OR Any equivalent combination of education and experience to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
- The ability to obtain a Certified Minnesota Assessor (CMA) license within three (3) years of hire.
- The ability to obtain an Accredited Minnesota Assessor (AMA) license within five (5) years of hire.
- A reliable automobile for county-related business.
- An Accredited Minnesota Assessor (AMA), or the ability to be licensed as an AMA within the allowable statutory timeframe.
