Appraisal Officer
About the role
The purpose of this position is to assist the Manager of Appraisal Review and Environmental Risk with providing appraisal services. The primary responsibility for this position is to review commercial appraisals.
Responsibilities
- Reviews commercial real estate appraisals for USPAP and FIRREA compliance, valuation methodology and application and determination of an appropriate market value estimate for extension of credit.
- Inspects collateral as part of the review process when necessary or appropriate.
- Bids and engages appraisers for valuation assignments.
- Affords assistance in selecting the approved appraiser panel and monitors the quality of the product.
- Sends recommendations to the Manager of Appraisal Review and Environmental Risk regarding the continuation, limitations or removal of an appraiser from the approved appraiser panel.
- Provides evaluation and validation services, as needed.
- Affords assistance in development and implementation of appraisal policy and procedures.
- Affords assistance to the credit department staff regarding appraisal issues as required in the credit management process.
- Integrates effective Internal Controls into all applicable work processes.
- Maintains a working knowledge of Internal Controls with particular attention to Key Controls.
- Is responsible for ensuring that updates to Internal Controls documentation are performed timely when there are changes in the risk parameters and/or workflow.
- Affords compliance and risk management duties as required or assigned.
Requirements
General state appraisal license certification in Washington and/or Idaho, to be current at all times.
Four-year college degree with an emphasis in real estate, finance, economics, real property valuation, urban land economics/planning, or other related field. Eight years of direct appraisal experience may substitute for a four-year college degree.
Proficiency with MS Office.
Possess excellent written, verbal and listening skills.
Possess a current automobile license.
Qualifications
