Applied Technology/Industrial Maintenance Mechanic Instructor (Part-Time Faculty Pool) Fresno City College

Fresno City College seeks a part-time instructor to teach courses in the Industrial Maintenance Mechanic program. This role may include assignments in various instructional settings and times, such as evenings, weekends, online, off-campus, and large group instruction.

Responsibilities

• Present instruction and provide experiences to prepare students for entry-level employment as an industrial maintenance mechanic, covering:
  • Electrical fundamentals
  • High voltage industrial electrical systems and motor control
  • Electrical schematic reading
  • Hydraulic/pneumatic fundamentals and components
  • Hydraulic/pneumatic schematic reading and troubleshooting
  • Machine shop fundamentals, including lathes, mills, and drill press
  • Fundamentals of oxygen acetylene welding in the flat position
  • Fundamentals of arc welding in the flat position
  • General mechanical subjects, including hand tools, threads and fasteners, oils and lubrication, pipes and fittings, belt drives, and bearings and seals
• Fulfill duties and responsibilities of instructors as required by Administrative Regulation 7122

Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree and two years of related professional experience; OR
• An associate degree and six years of related professional experience; OR
• A valid California Community College credential; OR
• The equivalent education and/or experience (requires an equivalency)
• Evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, as these factors relate to equity-minded practices within the classroom

Qualifications

• Knowledge and recent experience teaching courses in industrial maintenance mechanics, including electricity, hydraulics/pneumatics, oxyacetylene and stick arc welding, machining (lathes, mills, drill presses), and other mechanical subjects
• Work or professional experience related to industrial maintenance mechanics
• Experience working with students of diverse cultural backgrounds
• Ability to communicate effectively with students and staff
• Ability to present technical material in the industrial maintenance mechanic program
• Recent experience working with African American, Latinx, Native American, and other racially minoritized students, and an understanding of historical patterns of exclusion in higher education
• Willingness to examine and improve instructional, relational, and classroom practices to support racially minoritized students
• Experience addressing equity issues in the classroom
• Potential for contributing to institutional vitality and growth
• Knowledge of the community college system and its missions and goals

Pay

Starting rates are $45.49 – $61.78 for lecture and $38.67 – $52.55 for lab.
