Applied Scientist II, US Prime and Marketing Tech

About the role

The Discovery Tech team helps customers discover and engage with new, popular and relevant products across Amazon worldwide. You will be responsible for creating and building critical services that automatically generate, target, and optimize Amazon’s cross-category marketing and merchandising.

Responsibilities

• Create and build data-driven and highly scalable machine learning solutions for product recommendation.
• Identify and solve specific business problems using machine learning techniques.
• Collaborate with engineering teams and business stakeholders to develop and deploy intelligent marketing campaigns.
• Set the standard for scientific excellence and make decisions that affect the way we build and integrate algorithms.
• Tackle intrinsically hard problems, acquiring expertise as needed.
• Decompose complex problems into straightforward solutions.

Requirements

• PhD, or Master's degree and 1+ years of CS, CE, ML or related field experience
• Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language
• Experience building machine learning models or developing algorithms for business applications

Qualifications

• Experience in patents or publications at top-tier peer-reviewed conferences or journals (preferred)
• Experience with generative deep learning models applicable to the creation of synthetic humans like CNNs, GANs, VAEs and NF (preferred)
• Usage of generative AI tools to enhance workflow efficiency, with a willingness to learn effective prompting and evaluation practices (preferred)
• Ability to recognize opportunities where generative AI could enhance products, workflows, or customer experiences (preferred)

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Experience with machine learning and data science
• Knowledge of Java, C++, Python or related languages

Salary range for this role is $120,000 - $180,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
