Responsibilities
- Collaborate with scientists, engineers, and product managers to define and frame business problems as ML or optimization tasks.
- Build, train, and evaluate models using large, complex datasets.
- Implement scalable data pipelines and model-serving systems.
- Analyze experimental results, draw insights, and refine models to improve accuracy and robustness.
- Communicate findings and recommendations to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Continuously learn and apply new algorithms and techniques to improve existing systems.
- Own the design and development of end-to-end systems, including creating technical roadmaps and driving production-level projects that support Amazon Science.
- Work closely with Amazon scientists and other science interns to develop solutions and deploy them into production.

The Amazon Music – Catalog [MusicIQ] Team develops sophisticated models for understanding music across multiple dimensions: sonic, thematic, cultural, lyrical, etc. This team aims to unify deep music knowledge to power intelligent music experiences across Amazon Music. The goal is to deliver a musically credible experience that will help grow engagement across all customers and delight fans.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
- 3+ years of building models for business applications.
- PhD, or Master's degree and 4+ years of CS, CE, ML, or related field experience.
- Experience programming in Java, C++, Python, or related language.
- Experience in any of the following areas: algorithms and data structures, parsing, numerical optimization, data mining, parallel and distributed computing, high-performance computing.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience using Unix/Linux.
- Experience in professional software development.
