Applied Science Associate I

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Support and assist in aseptic micropropagation methodologies for mass-scale clone production.
• Collect nodal stem samples for use in micropropagation and tissue culture research of Cannabis.
• Record data in laboratory notebook, data system, and/or Excel.
• Operate laboratory equipment in a safe manner.
• Assure cleanliness and organization of glassware, plasticware, and other supplies as needed.
• Assure the cleanliness of the lab environment.
• Maintain an organized work environment.
• Able to execute techniques consistently.
• Properly document all applicable activities in accordance with standards set by the State and the company.
• Learn new laboratory techniques and use new equipment with instruction.
• Supports experiments in the garden and follows all Floriculture SOPS.
• Helps harvest, buck, label, and/or trim trial plants as needed.
• Assists with bottom pruning, defoliation, irrigation, transplanting, pinching, and/or releasing biologicals in R&D rooms as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Previous experience working with plants or in a lab environment is preferred.
• Ability to safely use sharp instruments.
• Willingness to work in tight spaces and loud environments.
• Ability to work around chemicals and fertilizers safely.
• Willingness to learn scientific concepts and use of scientific equipment.
• Ability to use sterile techniques.
• Ability to make buffers and plant media as needed.
