About the Role
What if your expertise in quantum mechanics, electrodynamics, and thermodynamics could directly shape how AI understands the physical world? We're looking for PhD-level Applied Physicists to stress-test cutting-edge AI models — probing their reasoning, exposing their blind spots, and helping ensure they never violate the fundamental laws of the universe.

What You'll Do
- Design PhD-Level Problems — Craft advanced, open-ended physics problems that demand multi-step logical reasoning, rigorous mathematical derivation, and mastery of physical principles across domains like quantum mechanics, electromagnetism, and thermodynamics
- Author Gold-Standard Solutions — Produce precise, step-by-step "golden responses" with flawless units, physical constants, and logical flow — the benchmark against which AI outputs are measured
- Audit AI Reasoning — Evaluate AI-generated proofs, derivations, and simulations for physical consistency; identify where models "hallucinate" physics that violates first principles
- Refine Model Behaviour — Provide structured, expert feedback that helps AI systems develop genuine physics-informed reasoning — respecting boundary conditions, conservation laws, and physical constraints
Who You Are
- Holds a PhD (completed or near completion) in Applied Physics, Physics, Engineering Physics, or a closely related field
- Deep mastery of core physics pillars: Classical Mechanics, Electrodynamics, Statistical Mechanics, and Quantum Mechanics
- Exceptional ability to communicate complex physical phenomena and mathematical derivations in clear, structured prose
- Uncompromising attention to detail — units, scientific notation, and proof structure are never an afterthought
- Self-directed and comfortable working independently on analytical tasks
Nice to Have
- Experience with data annotation, scientific dataset evaluation, or quality assurance in research contexts
- Proficiency with computational tools such as MATLAB, COMSOL, Python (NumPy/SciPy), or similar
- Background in research publishing, academic benchmarking, or peer review
Why Join Us
- Work on genuinely high-impact AI projects in collaboration with world-leading research labs
- Fully remote and flexible — structure your hours around your existing commitments
- Freelance autonomy: choose your pace, work asynchronously, and maintain full independence
- Get rare, hands-on exposure to how frontier LLMs are trained and evaluated
- Contribute to a mission that matters — ensuring AI respects the laws that govern the physical universe
- Potential for ongoing work and contract extension as new projects launch
