Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage a team of application welding engineers, technicians, and technologists to complete Applied R&D projects
- Support the personal growth of direct reports through ongoing professional development
- Provide technical guidance and expertise to the team, ensuring best practices are followed in customer support, evaluations, demonstrations, and solution development
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including sales, machine and consumable R&D, product management to develop and deliver welding solutions
- Manage offering of engineering services to end users
- Develop and maintain project plans, allocate resources effectively, and track progress, ensuring projects are delivered on time
- Grow and maintain expertise in AWS and AISC industry trends
- Proactively address lab related environment, ergonomic, and safety issues
- Absorbs additional responsibilities as needed or directed in support of the Company’s 2030 RISE Strategy
Basic Requirements
- Bachelor's in Welding Engineering, Mechanical (with an emphasis in Welding), Structural Engineering, Materials Science or a related field. Masters Degree preferred
- Minimum 7 years of relevant experience, preferred
- Experience with Welding Industry Codes and Standards
- Proficiency in arc welding processes
- Demonstrated project management capabilities
- Strong organizational skills and attention to details
- Ability to build and maintain superior relationships with internal and external clients at all levels
- Anticipates internal and/or external business challenges and/or regulatory issues; recommends process, product or service improvements
- Solves unique and complex problems that have a broad impact on the business
- Contributes to the development of functional strategy
- Leads project teams to achieve milestones and objectives
- Typically operates with broad latitude in a complex environment
- Ability to travel 15% of the time
