Applications & Web Programmer/Developer
Coastal Carolina University is seeking a full-time Applications & Web Programmer/Developer in the Office of Information Technology Services. This role serves as the lead web applications programmer to plan and build online applications, mobile, and web-based services for the university and its stakeholders.
About the role
The Applications & Web Programmer/Developer provides quality web support services for applications, forms, and the university website CMS system, performs system troubleshooting, and offers training to clients and web programmers.
Responsibilities
- Program applications and provide web development services.
- Manage and maintain application and web-based services using appropriate tools for database/application development, web development, authoring, programming, and testing/troubleshooting.
- Provide client support and training for applications, including creating training resources.
- Manage assigned projects, including identifying requirements, steps, timelines, and providing regular updates on project statuses.
- Perform project post-completion evaluations.
- Implement design standards for applications, ensuring usability, accessibility, and coding efficiency consistent with current CCU standards, regulations, laws, and trends.
- Collaborate with university marketing and communication staff to ensure websites align with university communication expectations and standards.
- Perform assigned work in the university content management system (CMS).
- Document all work performed in the ticket system and assigned university project management tools, providing frequent updates on progress.
- Assist supervisor in performing system upgrades and updates, troubleshooting, and resolving system issues.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in communications, computer science, or a related field and experience in information technology. Related experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or information science.
- Two (2) years of professional application and web development experience.
- Experience training others in developing web applications.
- Demonstrated experience in information and interface design and content management systems.
- Experience with using and operating in a UNIX environment.
Skills
- Project management skills.
- Advanced knowledge in programming skills.
- Proficiency in application and web development and information architecture using industry-standard tools and programming languages such as PHP, HTML, JavaScript, Visual Basic, and MySQL.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently.
- Strong skills in developing and programming with a high level of database integration.
Pay
Salary range: $52,100.00 – $70,300.00 (midpoint).
Schedule
Normal work hours are Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Friday 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Must be flexible to meet the special scheduling needs of the university.
