Responsibilities
- Performs and analyzes engineering and quality control functions to develop cost-effective and reliable manufacturing or measurement processes, applying engineering principles and standards.
- Follows established procedures in completing multiple technical assignments.
- Assists in the design and/or project/process management of new and current products, programs, components, tools and acceptance equipment under technical guidance of higher level Engineers or departmental management.
- Obtains new product safety certifications and maintain current certifications by working directly with National Recognized Testing Laboratories (NRTLs).
- Develops test plans and performs engineering evaluation tests, product and process capability studies, quality audits, data reviews, and other testing processes to ensure product manufacturability.
- Accurately and timely complete product testing including hardware and firmware in destructive and non-destructive fashion, per engineering requirements.
- Collaborates with Product Management team to meet Product Design Requirements and product improvements based on customer requests and market trends.
- Communicates with supply chain to identify, test and validate component substitutions, maintain inventory, and introduce changes to production.
- Assists production assemblers to maintain test equipment and provide training on new equipment, products, and processes.
- Maintains calibration lab equipment and ensures safety guidelines are followed by all personnel.
- Assists in completion of monthly and quarterly product certification inspections.
- Maintains and updates controlled documents in QMS system as necessary.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical preferred; Mechanical, Chemical, and Materials considered) from an ABET-accredited institution.
- 1-3+ years technical experience in a manufacturing or electronics environment.
- Ability to work under minimal supervision, with latitude for independent action and decision making.
- Proven ability to make and meet commitments, results oriented, and strong problem-solving and multi-tasking skills.
- Knowledge and understanding of electrical systems, circuits, and analog / digital circuits preferred.
- Preferred experience with:
- UL Safety Standards and Requirements, or similar.
- Writing and executing product test plans.
- Quality Management Software and Controlled Documentation.
- Working knowledge of LabView, 3D CAD software, and Adobe Illustrator
- Microsoft Office Suite
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit at desk for long periods of time.
- Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds as frequently as needed to move objects.
- Dexterity to write and manipulate computer keyboard and mouse, tools and controls on office equipment.
- Body mobility to stoop, kneel, bend and reach.
