Applications Engineer, Senior
About the role
As a Senior applications engineer, you will contribute to the architecting, evaluation, improvement, and support of system solutions in the retail point of sale market. Ensuring that our Advanced Data Capture products work seamlessly with our customers' point of sale systems.
Responsibilities
- Provide training to our partners and customers and assist in the system integration of advanced data capture products to provide validated and tested solutions.
- Work closely with the product management and engineering teams to address key challenges related to the performance of our organization’s products and solutions in specific application scenarios.
- Evaluate product performance and usability challenges in order to identify the core issue and eliminate the problem.
- Collaborate with sales, engineering, and product management teams to communicate resolution and ensure fixes are validated and become available in a future release.
- Assist in the planning and analysis of strategic customer projects to ensure that they are effectively executed.
- Ensure appropriate Zebra products/features are incorporated in order to maximize customer benefit and business value.
- Help manage and maintain company vision labs, as well as remote testing infrastructure, in order to ensure the ability to respond to product/solution challenges and opportunities rapidly and effectively.
- Represent the product management organization as a technical customer/partner contact; often assist with application deployments with the guidance of more senior colleagues.
- Contribute to the development of technical training.
- Design/architect system demonstrations to ensure that products/solutions are represented in a highly professional and effective manner at internal and external events.
- For high priority opportunities, may be asked to assist sales team/partners with deployment and/or testing on site at customer location.
- Provides moderate Tier 3 technical support for partners/customers, escalating more complex challenges to senior colleagues.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.
- 5+ years of professional experience.
- Experience working with advanced data capture and retail point of sale solutions.
- Knowledge of basic electrical engineering concepts like schematics, wiring, hand tools, etc.
- Knowledge of basic imaging concepts.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced Degree.
- Knowledge of retail point of sale processes and environments.
- Knowledge of – and experience with – coding languages like Windows, Linux, Python, etc.
- Hands-on electrical engineering experience including working with schematics, wiring, hand tools, etc.
- Hands-on experience with machine vision, computer vision, or image processing including setting up cameras, lensing, lighting, filters, focal lengths, etc.
- Knowledge of manufacturing and/or logistics processes and environments a plus.
- Certified Vision Professional – Basic a plus.

Pay Range: $108,960.00 - $163,440.00 Annual Incentive Compensation In addition to base pay, Zebra offers this role the opportunity to earn a performance-based annual cash incentive, at a target equal to 12% of base pay, in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan.
