Applications Engineer (Sales & Technical)

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with OEMs, B2B customers, and end users
  • Understand customer challenges and develop tailored technical solutions
  • Support and execute sales strategies, including product demonstrations and technical presentations
  • Act as a trusted advisor, guiding customers through evaluation, selection, and implementation
  • Promote hardware and software (SaaS) solutions, clearly communicating value and ROI
  • Interface with electrical, mechanical, and software engineers to define system requirements
  • Design system layouts and ensure proper integration into customer environments
  • Lead or support installation, startup, commissioning, and deployment of systems
  • Troubleshoot system performance issues and implement corrective actions
  • Perform product testing, validation, and field evaluations and document results

Qualifications & Competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or related) or equivalent experience
  • Strong background in industrial automation systems (PLCs, HMI, networking)
  • Experience in technical sales or customer-facing engineering roles
  • Knowledge of AI-based systems, safety technologies, or vision systems preferred
  • Experience with SaaS or subscription-based solutions is a plus
  • Ability to design, troubleshoot, and implement integrated systems
  • Strong communication and presentation skills (technical & non-technical audiences)
  • Problem-solving and analytical thinking
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently or in a team
  • Customer-focused mindset with strong relationship-building skills

Working Conditions

  • Travel required (up to 50 – 80%) for customer visits, installations, and industry events
  • Work may occur in: Office environments, Customer industrial sites, Occasional exposure to machinery, electrical systems, and field conditions, Occasional non-standard hours based on customer needs

Physical Requirements

  • The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk and stoop, or crouch.
  • The employee may need to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
