Applications Engineer - Proposals

About the role

As an Applications Engineer on the Lifecycle Proposals team, you will develop and prepare Ovation Advantage proposals—covering control system modernization, subsystem replacements, and ancillary systems integration—while collaborating across Emerson’s power and water automation businesses. This role can be based in Cranberry Township, PA; Tinley Park, IL; Charlotte, NC; or Houston, TX.

Responsibilities

• Develop clear, accurate DCS technical proposals aligned to customer needs, requirements, and specifications.
• Work with Regional and Project Engineering teams to assemble complete solutions using Emerson products and services.
• Coordinate and participate in customer meetings to define scope, showcase Emerson’s capabilities, and present solutions.
• Collaborate with other Emerson departments to drive solutions and provide support.
• Review customer orders to ensure scope matches proposals and prepare for order entry.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Electronic/Electrical/Chemical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related STEM field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum of 2 years of related experience.
• Experience with control systems such as DCS or PLC.
• Knowledge of application and process automation systems, and Distributed Control Systems.
• Willingness to travel up to 5%.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States—sponsorship will not be provided.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of the Ovation™ or other DCS.
• Experience in proposal development, cost estimating, or project engineering.
• History of working across multiple groups in a large organization.
• High energy and drive to achieve results.
• Commitment to continuous learning and staying current with new technologies.

Pay

The salary range for this role is $85,000 – $100,000 annually, commensurate with skills, talent, capabilities, and experience.
