About the role

As an Applications Engineer, you will work with an impressive team at Carl ZEISS IQS, playing a crucial role in enhancing processes and supporting customers and the ZEISS Sales team.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical consultation and support to customers and Sales personnel, especially regarding advanced applications and systems.
  • Absorb and assist with ZEISS Calypso programming as needed.
  • Ensure accurate and timely flow of technical information.
  • Support projects using ZEISS systems, including responding to customer software/application inquiries and assisting other ZEISS departments as needed.
  • Offer applications expertise for project-related activities, including analyzing customer inspection requirements.
  • Perform Gage R&R studies.
  • Support IT-related issues, including Windows operating systems, networking, and database management.

Requirements

  • A four-year degree in Engineering, Math, Physics, or another technical discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in the automotive industry, or equivalent professional experience with metrology products.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings for dimensional control requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
  • Strong inspection or metrology skills with experience in the manufacturing industry.
  • Proficiency with computer software and aptitude for computer-aided data analysis products.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to learn independently and address customer challenges.
  • Experience with ZEISS Calypso software and CMM programming is a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to create concise technical reports.
  • Ability to reason and negotiate complex problems with customers.
