Freedom Technology Solutions Group is looking for an Applications Developer/Software Engineer to join our Virginia team. This role involves new, complex initiatives and requires experience or familiarity with a broad range of technologies and practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead multi‑disciplinary Agile teams through sprint planning, backlog grooming, and daily scrums using Jira, Confluence, and Git.
• Translate customer requirements into MVIs, features, and user stories within a Lean Agile framework.
• Monitor concurrent high‑visibility projects, manage risks, and deliver on schedule and within budget.
• Coordinate across security, operations, and testing teams to ensure smooth delivery and accreditation.
• Provide surge support and participate in daily stand‑ups, code reviews, and retrospectives.
• Design and deploy scalable cloud infrastructure on AWS, Azure, and GCP using Docker, Kubernetes, and related services (EC2, S3, Lambda, EKS, RDS, CloudWatch, Route53, API Gateway).
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins, GitHub/GitLab, Nexus, Terraform, and Ansible; implement DevSecOps practices.
• Migrate legacy applications to cloud environments, optimizing for scalability and security.
• Develop responsive web applications using Angular, React, Vue.js, HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript.
• Build backend services with Java, Python, Spring Boot, Node.js, Express, Ruby on Rails, and Golang; follow MVC architecture and modern design patterns.
• Maintain legacy codebases while refactoring for performance and modern enhancements.
• Design and implement UI/UX wireframes, mockups, and accessibility‑compliant interfaces (Section 508, WCAG 2.1, ARIA, JAWS, NVDA, WAVE).
• Develop RESTful APIs and integrate middleware services for data exchange and system interoperability.
• Design scalable, distributed systems using microservices, event‑driven, and containerized architectures; ensure fault tolerance, redundancy, and high availability.
• Build and manage ETL pipelines with Spark, NiFi, PySpark, PL/SQL, Python, Bash, Bonobo, and CRON; perform data ingestion, cleansing, and transformation.
• Design and maintain relational and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, Aurora, MongoDB, DynamoDB); write and optimize PL/SQL scripts and complex queries.
• Administer Elasticsearch clusters, support search indexing, and develop federated search services using Solr, Elastic, and recommendation engines.
• Create dashboards and visual analytics with Tableau, Tableau Prep, Elasticsearch, and custom visualization tools; administer Tableau Server.
• Lead system accreditation efforts (ICD‑503), manage ATO lifecycle, and implement RMF/A&A processes using tools such as XACTA and Nessus.
• Conduct technical risk assessments, implement security controls, and support vulnerability mitigation across hybrid environments.
• Integrate AI/ML capabilities (deepfake detection, recommendation engines, NLP pipelines, NER with SpaCy) and evaluate COTS AI/ML platforms.
• Develop Android/iOS mobile apps using React Native, Electron, and secure mobile frameworks; serve as SME for mobile OS security and geospatial data workflows.
• Integrate GIS tools with enterprise systems and support cross‑platform deployment.
• Produce PMR slides, sprint reports, and stakeholder briefings; translate complex technical concepts into accessible language.
• Document system architectures, security plans, implementation guides, and operational procedures.
