About the role
Directly supports the DoD’s High-Performance Computing Modernization Program (HPCMP) mission. Delivers world-class commercial, high-end, high-performance computational capabilities to the Department of Defense's (DoD’s) Research, Development, Test and Evaluation (RDT&E) community at the DoD Supercomputing Resource Centers (DSRCs).
Responsibilities
- Provide high degree of technical support and professionalism to the research communities of the ARL DSRC.
- Help researchers debug code, suggest areas of optimization within code, and job submission procedures to meet HPC research requirements.
- Respond to complaints, requests, troubleshoot, etc., diagnosing and resolving computational technical problems of complex nature, associated with computer hardware and software.
- Utilize a wide variety of skills and software tools regarding computing on large-scale systems: scripting and automation, network distributed services, storage and backup, and software problem diagnosis and resolution.
- Install, configure, maintain, and support computer software (COTS, GOTS, and open source), which may include network environments or software upgrades in accordance with specifications, and perform testing as required.
- Develop and maintain documentation, including configuration changes, as needed.
- Aid in the implementation of new technology both on Supercomputers, HPC Clusters and in the infrastructure, machines used to maintain the clusters.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree and 2-4 years work experience or equivalent experience.
- Customer service oriented, attentive to detail, self-motivated, and works well in teams.
- Flexibility in approach to finding solutions, understanding and acting on customer needs and priorities, and learning new technologies quickly.
- Active interim or active Secret clearance.
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge and experience with Linux operating systems, preferably on a large scale (100+ servers) environment.
- Experience with High-performance storage and clustered filesystems (e.g. GPFS, Lustre).
- Experience with Singularity.
- Knowledge of HPC scheduling Software such as SLURM, PBS, LSF, or Condor.
- Knowledge of HPC Parallel libraries (MPI, OpenMP).
- Knowledge of High-performance computer interconnects (e.g. 10 and 40 Gigabit Ethernet, InfiniBand).
- Fluency in one or more programming languages (e.g. C, Fortran, Python, PERL).
- Knowledge of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI/ML) frameworks.
