About the Role

The Application Analyst supports the Information Technology group within the Energy Northwest New Nuclear organization, serving as a technical expert in applications such as JIRA, Box.com, VISION, and Asset Suite. This role involves piloting and implementing software, participating in software selection, and ensuring compliance with Software Quality Assurance processes. The analyst independently formulates system requirements, leads projects, and specializes in application systems analysis and programming, including preparing detailed specifications for software purchase or development.

Responsible for the full lifecycle of business applications, the Application Analyst contributes expertise in systems analysis, development, and problem-solving. By collaborating with users, vendors, and peer analysts, the analyst identifies and enhances software solutions, supports upgrades, testing, and change management, and helps translate business needs into effective technical solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Leads efforts to ensure successful implementation, application, maintenance, upgrade, and documentation of assigned applications.
  • Acts as the primary point of contact when users experience difficulty or need assistance, determining solutions for process failures or integrity issues.
  • Interfaces with other application analysts to resolve programming or data problems.
  • Designs, codes, tests, and debugs programs/applications of varying complexity; interfaces with contractors or junior staff on these activities.
  • Participates in software upgrade efforts, including assisting customers with testing.
  • Develops and maintains procedures associated with assigned applications, ensuring business processes and rules are captured within software features.
  • Writes functional specifications and develops validation and verification plans; approves final test results and receives stakeholder signoff.
  • Assists in implementing changes and coordinates with end users and technical resources; serves as the point person for reviewing changes with IS Leadership/Work Management for production authorization.
  • Documents workflow changes associated with upgrades and develops, maintains, and communicates change management plans.
  • Provides general and application-specific technical support to ensure availability and continuity of business applications or programs in the production environment.
  • Maintains a solid understanding of the customer's business, including goals, objectives, work processes, and end products or services.
  • Interfaces with vendor technical support, researches software architecture, and uses application tools to assist or coach customers in implementing new functions or troubleshooting issues.
  • Evaluates work requests to determine feasibility, develops work plans, cost and schedule estimates, or recommendations by interviewing customers to identify requirements.
  • Interfaces with customers and team leaders to agree on task priorities and maintain open communication on work status, issues, and concerns.
  • Leads or assists in preparing formal system or cross-system proposals by interpreting business and technical requirements, forecasting costs and benefits, and making recommendations.
  • Coordinates the implementation of application changes into production, ensuring changes and customizations are clearly identified, packaged, and documented.
  • Participates on the Emergency Response team (ERO) when designated and supports the biennial refueling outage.

Requirements

  • Application System Analyst IV: Bachelor's degree in a computer discipline (or equivalent experience) and eight years of directly related IT experience in application programming and analysis. A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • Application System Analyst III: Bachelor's degree in a computer discipline (or equivalent experience) and five years of directly related IT experience in application programming and analysis. A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • Application System Analyst II: Bachelor's degree in a computer discipline (or equivalent experience) and three years of directly related IT experience in application programming and analysis. A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • Application System Analyst I: Bachelor's degree in a computer discipline (or equivalent experience). A high school diploma or GED is required.

Pay

  • Application System Analyst IV: $126,362 - $189,542 (Midpoint: $157,952)
  • Application System Analyst III: $109,870 - $164,806 (Midpoint: $137,338)
  • Application System Analyst II: $95,532 - $143,298 (Midpoint: $119,415)
  • Application System Analyst I: $83,125 - $124,687 (Midpoint: $103,906)

Typically, selected candidates are hired between the minimum and midpoint of the range, based on applicable experience and qualifications, market rate, internal equity, and budgetary allowances. Offers may include incentive compensation based on candidate qualifications and performance against defined metrics and company goals.
